The Tamron 70-200 f2.8 lens performs well and boasts a very impressive image quality. Although the autofocus is not always accurate, images are usually crisp and sharp if you manage to get the focus right. The lens especially struggles to focus in darker conditions. Lens flare is minimal, and only starts to be a factor at longer focal lengths, especially at its maximum zoom of 200mm. The lens hood however helps to curb most of the flare. In the following paragraphs, I will be discussing about the optical performance of this Canon 24mm 1.4 lens. At the aperture of f/2.8 it is very sharp, has high contrast and is bright around the edges of the frame. This is especially true when you are comparing it to my old Canon 24mm 2.8 lens. Even at the f/4.5 aperture I can see a difference between the two lenses. This seems to be true at the apertures above f/4.5 although I have yet to do a test for this.

The SAL-50F18 is one of those lenses that probably will not replace your standard kit lens bur rather compliment it. Everyone that has an interest in photography should have at least one good portrait lens in his or her bag and this one fits the bill perfectly. While you might be able to get better performance from other lenses none of them are able to match the price of this one. The plastic construction has raised some concerns amongst users but I have been using this lens for a while now without any harm coming to it. I
